This weekend (Saturday September 3rd) saw two meets for the UK Seahawkers as the chapter builds on a successful National meet in April.
In Dublin, with the NCAA Football game between Georgia Tech and Boston College at Aviva Stadium a dozen or so members of the chapter and Facebook group took the opportunity to meet up and share a few cold ones post game.
Meanwhile, the 2nd annual ‘Midlands Seahawks Meet’ took place in Birmingham. Taking in bars on Broad Street and in the city’s Jewellery Quarter with around 25-30 Seahawks fans, chapter members and Facebook group members spent the day meeting up with new and old faces!
The Birmingham meet also saw Pam Sheppard make the journey up from Cornwall with her family. Pam, along with her husband Michael and son Gavin (who was also there in Birmingham) started the first UK-based Seahawks fan group in 1981. She was flooded with listening ears for some of her stories and was blown away by the numbers present 35 years on from humble beginnings for the team’s fandom over this side of the Atlantic.
The results of that meeting and subsequent chat between current Chapter President Sean Wilson, chapter member Stuart Court and Pam will be uploaded to the website in the near future!
Until then, below are a selection of photos from the two events. Thanks to Conor Tyrell, Alan Kennedy, Gavin Sheppard and Andy and Karen Pilkington-Steele for taking the pictures and sending them in to be put on this site!
Go Hawks!
